Xi Wang Primary School/希望小學

Xi Wang is a well-equipped school in Baiwan. The school has a technology building built in October 2001 with the construction fee funded mainly by the Shi Wan town government of Fo Shan, Guangdong. During the January and April visit in 2002, we bought PE and art equipment for the school, and furnished the Science lab, the Art room and the Music room in the new building. Students enjoy the new facilities and have found the lessons more interesting.

希望小學是白灣一所設備頗為齊全的小學。學校的科技大樓於2001年10月落成，這座大樓的建築費主要是由廣東省佛山市石灣鎮資助。於2002年1月及4月的探訪時，我們為學校添置了一批體育器材和美術用品；更為新大樓的科學實驗室、美術室及音樂室購置傢具。學生們享用有關設施，並發現課堂比以前有趣。

希望小学是白湾一所设备颇为齐全的小学。学校的科技大楼于2001年10月落成,这座大楼的建筑费主要是由广东省佛山市石湾镇资助。于2002年1月及4月的探访时,我们为学校添置了一批体育器材和美术用品;更为新大楼的科学实验室、美术室及音乐室购置家具。学生们享用有关设施,并发现课堂比以前有趣。

With improved facilities, in 2004 the school is officially granted the status of grade one school in Qingxin County. In November 2009, we bought new uniforms and equipment for the school band (Young Pioneer Squad).

In June 2010, the Nansen House of Island School sets up a scholarship for students who do well at the end-of-term exams. The picture shows three representatives from the Nansen House who presented scholarship to the top twenty P6 students.

In July 2010, we sponsored a summer camp for students in Xi Wang Primary School. The activities were run by a group of post-secondary students based in Guangzhou. They involved English, Mathematics and general knowledge of the legal system. The summer camp has become a regular activity for the Baiwan children.

In August 2012, a new teaching block is built to replace the old one. Together with the reduced student population, the school is able to provide more functional rooms to improve the education quality. The Nansen House of Island School has sponsored the new desks and chairs for the Multi-media room in November 2012.

In 2015, the Qing Xin County government invested a lot of money to refurbish the facilities of the school. Two new basketball courts and a playground were built on top of other hardware installment in the classrooms. Students can now enjoy decent sports facilities during breaks and PE lessons.

In winter of 2018, the Baiwan Charity sponsored the school to re-paint 96 iron doors.
