Island School community service/港島中學社區服務

BaiWan has been a community service placement for Island School (IS) since 1998. Every year, a group of students and teachers from IS visits Bai Wan for a week in October/November. We teach children in local schools and play with them.

由1998年起，白灣便成了港島中學的社區服務點．每年的10或11月，都會有一群師生到白灣探訪一星期．我們會在當地學校授課及與這裏的兒童玩耍．

In order to repay the community,  money has been raised over the years to help equip schools with better facilities. The Da Vinci House of IS has been supporting children in Sun Bean Children Village through their primary and secondary education. The Nansen House has bought PE equipment , library books, desks and chairs etc. for various schools in Baiwan. It also sponsored the Baiwan Secondary School to build hostel and buy bunk beds for boarding students. IS Student Union 2004 had also sponsored to build the dormitory for Baiwan Secondary School. Starting from 2010, a scholarship is established in Hei Moong Primary School to encourage students to do well in examinations. This is also extended to Nan An Primary School in 2015.

為了回饋社區，港島中學一直籌募善款協助當地學校添購設備。達文西社資助了陽光兒童村的一批孩子讀書。藍森社則為不同的學校購置體育器材、圖書、課桌和椅子。它亦幫助白灣中學籌建學生宿樓和購置雙層床。2004年港島中學學生會更撥款資助新宿樓之建設。由2010年開始，我們在希望小學成立了一個奬學金以鼓勵考試成績優異的學生，並在2015年擴展至南安小學。
